True Face of UKIP Exposed

UKIP's Frank Maloney: Extremist

Gay Conservatives Chairman James Davenport has called on UKIP's London mayoral candidate to step down, after he made homophobic remarks at the launch of his campaign.

United Kingdom Independence Party candidate Frank Maloney launched into an extremist tirade when interviewed by The Hampstead & Highgate Express.

He told the newspaper that he would not be campaigning in Camden Town because there are 'too many gays'.

Lashing out at the annual Gay Pride event, he said 'I don’t have a problem with a lot of parades in London, but there is a problem with gay parades'.

And then the extremist politician turned his fire on the Metropolitan Police. He said 'I object to seeing policemen in uniform holding hands in public – it’s not a family way of life and we should support the family more. If a policeman and a policewoman in uniform were walking along holding hands in public they’d be pulled up'.

Bizarrely, he went on to say, 'I’m not homophobic but in public let’s live a proper moral life. I think that’s important.'

James Davenport, Chairman of Gay Conservatives, immediately condemned the UKIP candidates remarks: 'Frank Maloney is a dangerous extremist and should resign or be sacked as UKIP's candidate for London mayor. UKIP must back or sack their homophobic candidate.

'It is becoming ever more clear that the only candidate for London mayor who will deliver for the gay community is Steve Norris - a long-standing Vice President of Gay Conservatives.'
