James
Davenport, Torch's chairman, today launched a
scathing attack on Labour's betrayal of the gay
community.
Speaking
in London, Davenport said that Tony Blair had
taken the votes of gay people for granted: 'Labour
assumed that most gay people will carry on voting
for them until the end of time. So what have they
delivered in return? Quite apart from the higher
taxes and crumbling public services that everyone
else has to put up with as well, Labour have delivered
nothing but betrayal. Tony Blair made so many
promises of delivery, but all of those promises
have been broken.
'Where
reform has taken place, it has been as a result
of backbench amendment - not Government policy.
