Davenport has been appointed Chairman of Torche,
following the resignation of Andy Jennings.
Responding
to his appointment, James Davenport said:
'I
look forward to serving as Chairman in the period
to the Annual General Meeting. There is a lot
of work to do, building on the successes of the
past year. We have significant events and campaigns
to prepare for.
'I
would like to confirm now that I intend to stand
as Chairman at the AGM and will be announcing
my programme shortly. For now, though, I would
simply like to thank the committee for their confidence,
and thank Andy Jennings for all his hard work.'
James
Davenport was previously Deputy Chairman - Media,
handling the organisation's public relations strategy.
He has also been responsible for producing policy
documents and advising shadow cabinet members
during meetings.
