Alan Duncan has written to
Torche to say 'thank you' for the support of our
members.
The Shadow Foreign Minister,
who earlier this month became the first openly
gay Conservative MP, wrote to Torche to say:
'Of the 700 letters received,
only 18 have been in any way anti, which suggests
this is a political and social phenomenon the
Party would do well to analyse and understand.
'The local constituency reaction
has been fabulous, and my own association totally
supportive.'
'Please convey my gratitude
to all your Torche members.'
James Davenport, Chairman of
Torche, told gayconservatives.com:
'Alan Duncan's letter indicates
that the Conservative Party is open, decent and
accepting. Right through the Party from his constituency
activists to Iain Duncan Smith, the response has
been warmly welcoming.
